Default APR Heads Up

I have previously posted that I have the APR Chip and Exhaust. They have a problem. Set up with and without exhaust is made to run rich. APR did this because Turbo has more potential than fuel delivery system and they did'nt want car to lean out (safer to run rich). Too much air and not enough gas! Before the 2.0T they had opposite problem. This has caused car to run ruff after brief idle time. They have a program fix and fuel system upgrade comming (I am told and HOPE). Above is my "non mechanic" minds explanation. I just drive em folks!
The good news is our turbo has a lot of power potential. Bad news is you will have to buy upgraded fuel pump / injectors? I am sure APR can market this as STAGE II.
Will keep you informed.

You would think that they could just rewrite the programing to make it better not have to pay a bunch more for extra stuff

Well the fuel system can only put out so much fuel. At some point you have to upgrade the parts. This is a real problemw ith tuning the 2.0t. I've seen at least one other tuning company offer a fuel rail or pump upgrade (can't remember part or company btw).

That doesnt make a whole lot of sense considering the pressure the system runs at you would think all that had to be changed is the injector 'on' time

In all fairness to APR. They told me they will have a "patch" for program in a week or two but.....stage II fuel delivery upgrades are on the way.

If you change (lengthen) the injector "on" time you're simply changing the duration of the fuel pulse. At high engine speeds (read: high reciprical velocities) a lengthened fuel pulse would be less efficient because it would be delivering a portion of its payload either too early or too late in the stroke.

or isa it only when using the premium mode?
