AUDI A3 (Sedan) 2014, rear left tail lights / Rear Left Tail Fog Lights issues
Hi everyone! Supper happy to be on the forums, I bought my car about a year ago.
Very happy with it.
I just want to know something, if anyone does have the answer.
I went to the shops a few days ago, and the error message that states "Left rear tail light is not working" followed by a second error message "Left rear foglight not working"
I've elected to replace both of these lights.
With a W16W and a W21W as outlined in the manual.
It's still not working,
I decided to put the old bulbs into the right side, and they worked.
Tested the new ones on the right side, and they worked.
Thus, it's not a bulb issues.
I don't know how to fix this, I also checked for a blown fuse, but it seems to be fine.
Many years difference in our vehicles. But I have had issues with the left rear tail light assembly. You may want to carefully inspect the wiring plug itself and the light assembly. Mine appears to have a lot of current on that ground wire. It is a pain but it could apply to you. Here are pics of the connector and the melted pin of the tale light assembly itself that I found.

That is exactly what happened to my 2008 A3 down to the same pin! How did you end up fixing it? Did you have it serviced or did you take care of it yourself?
Hi all. I had a similar problem, after I bought a car on the online auction https://abetter.bid/ru/car-finder/ty...les/make-buick I had it repaired for $55 and no more problems. I also recommend you this site, where you can buy a car.

JustanotherUser, I was able to make a patch repair but not a proper "repair". Taking it to a shop for repairs was an option but just looking at the prices for the tail light assembly replacement alone indicated a very costly repair on a not new car. I was able to get the socket from the local VW dealer, but it comes in multiple pieces. The wire connector pig tails are 2 different sizes as the ground wire is thicker and does pass more current than the others. I found a replacement tail light assembly on line and ordered it but it was less than great condition. Wound up using a mix of original and replacement parts in the end.
While waiting for parts I made my DIY temp repairs. I drilled a small hole in the tail light assembly for a wire jumper to pass thru. I soldered that wire to the ground circuit trace inside the assembly and crimped a male bullet connector on the outside end. On the wiring socket end I cut the jacket back a bit on the ground wire before the socket and soldered a short piece of wire and crimped a female bullet connector on the wire. I basically made a second ground wire path jumpering the factory socket/plug.
The biggest part of my bodge is still in use. While I did use the new connector parts I did leave my wire "jumper" in place.
*This issue did have me looking at the tail lights of other cars more closely. Nothing scientific but of the cars a see with a tail light out, most seemed to be the left side out rather than the right!
