OK, I did a search and there was very little I could find...
After reading the brochures and Audi website, I still can't figure this out...

You have three audio options with the A3, right?

Standard Concert II (which is a single in-dash CD) - No MP3 CD or Sat?

Audio package which gives you Symphony II (?) - (In-dash six-disc CD changer with MP3 reading capability and SIRIUS Satellite Radio)





Nav Unit in which the CD changer is relocated to the glovebox, but no MP3 CD?

So if I don't want Nav but do want MP3 CD and Sat Radio, what option do I need? The audio package?

 

Minor correction: the Symphony II is not guaranteed to read mp3 CDs. Late '07 A4s have that capability, because they got the revised Symphony II+s, but A3s apparently have been stuck with the older IIs throughout the model year. Who knows what '08 will bring--maybe the return of the analog AM/FM tuner dial / ****!

 

Did some of the A3's come with a cassette player?

 

Oh, right. I should have mentioned that too. Apparently only the older IIs (Concert II and Symphony II) come with a cassette player. The newer II+s forgo the cassette player, but you get mp3-reading capability to compensate. I looked at a few '07 A3s in mid-June 07, and they all had cassette players.

 

So the only way to tell if it is II+ and has MP3 is the lack of cassette player? Or is there some MP3 logo on the radio somewhere?

 

That's what I've read on the internet. And two dealers claim they have no way to tell whether the stereo is of the "II" or "II+" variety from the spec sheet.
