burning rubber odor after tire failure
OK, some #$(%&%^* dumped glass shards in the road that were too small to see, yet large enough to rip up one of my tires. So I have to replace a mediocre dead tire with a new mediocre tire. The problem is after I pulled over to safety (had to drive 1/4 mile before finding a shouler), there was a strong burning rubber e-brake-ish smell outside. I can't imagine that coming from the tire, so should I be concerned about any other component?
The e-brake wasn't engaged til I had completely stopped.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. The worst that could happen in that short time is may some rubbing on the plastic fender pieces. Sorry about your troubles.
Cheers!

Thanks Chef. I drove around with the temporary spare on, and no problems except for the humiliation of not being able to throttle at all. But man, those sh!tty Conti's are expensive. Ugh. Glad I opted for the 17" wheels...could have been way more expensive.
