Default cambelt

Wondering if anyone can give me some advice on how much a cambelt change it going to cost me.

I recently had my A3 serviced and was told my cambelt needs changing its done 130k and not sure if its been changed previously. Someone has mentioned to me having the water pump changed at the same time? Would that make sense?

I don't know the year or engine of your car so it will be hard to estimate (if you have a new one it might even have a chain).

Anyhow on an 8p model and the 2.0t engine I would expect to pay somewhere around 1 Audi Unit (= 1000$). If you go to an independent mechanic you probably could get away with 700 or so (wild guess). I prefer to do these jobs myself and pay only for parts. The entire kit is only 250 bucks (includes coolant). So Audi adds some money on the parts and a lot of labor.

130k is a lot of miles, I would expect this to be the 2nd timing belt job and hopefully not the first!

I'm betting that by calling it a cambelt rather than a timing belt, this is a European car and owner, so it's probably 130k km, or a little over 70k miles.
