Chip question, very strange
Did anyone else read the article in European Car on the APR chips they were testing on an A4 2.0T?
They claim that the chip does not increase factory boost at all, just more aggresive tuning of the engine itself. The power they are getting is impressive, I would have figured that it would require higher boost to get that.
Are most chips that way, I was under the impression that chips normally crank up the boost.

RE: Chip question, very strange
Huh???
I know for certain that the APR chip raises the boost on the 2.0T, as do every other chip manufacturer. That is the best way to get more power into our cars, and the reason for the turbo in the first place. Factory boost is 8-10lbs, and the basic chip moves that to 16-22lbs, depending on the manufacturer.
I'd be interested in reading that article.
Cheers!

Check out the latest issue of European Car, it has the A5 on the front of it. I thought that sounded like a bit of BS, I don't know how you could get that much power only from tuning and not more boost.
I might have to send a nasty gram to the editors.
