I have a wierd headlight problem on my '01 A6, 2.8. When I start the car and turn on the low beams, the right low beam light seems out. When I turn the car off and try it again, it may be that the left low beam goes out and the right is on. It's always a random thing. In addition, the side marker lights do not come on at all (but do blink when the car is locked, so I know those bulbs are good). I've switched low beam bulbs (bulbs appear good), checked voltage to each low beam with a meter and it's a strong 12 volts. Could it be the headlight switch, possibly relays ? And, are the relays behind the panel next to the drivers footwell ?

Any help or thoughts ?
