Whats the average pricing on chips?

Do the AUDI dealers do it? Can you buy chips from them?

Or do you have to purchase the chip from the chip manufacturer and then bring the chip to AUDI to have them install it?

2nd the search recommendation by Chef.

A few Audi dealers also sell "chips" by aftermarket tuners. But I would recommend against asking your dealer directly. I doubt you would want your dealer to know that you are considering a modification with serious warranty ramnifications, i.e. it may void the warranty of the engine, transmission, and drivetrain. Instead, find out by searching on the Internet and on Audi/VW forums, like this one.

With the 2.0T, most (if not all) aftermarket tuners do not sell an actual chip. Instead, they are selling a modified version of the engine management software (like BIOS firmware to use a computer analogy) that is reflashed onto your vehicle's Bosch ECU. Even so, in everyday vernacular, we still call it a "chip", although a reflash would be a more correct term technically.

You can remove your ECU and send it directly to your choice of aftermarket tuner to get it reprogrammed or reflashed. But it is more convenient to drive to a local dealer (of the aftermarket tuner), and have the dealer reflash your ECU. As the product is software, the installation consists of hooking up your car's diagnostic port to a computer (usually a laptop for convenience) and reprogramming or reflashing your ECU.
