Crappy Week - Dealers & ECU

RE: Crappy Week - Dealers & ECU
Booked my car in for it's first variable service (14k) and I can confirm that mine is also due the ECU reflash. I didn't have to mention it, the service rep told me there was a recall. However, he couldn't shed any light on what the reflash was for.

RE: Crappy Week - Dealers & ECU
It is my understanding that there is no "chip" to be added or replaced. The only option is reflashing the ECU. Now, I also understand since I looked into this option, that some companies will reflash the ECU with "selectable" settings performed via the menu controls on the steering wheel. It can be selected to be factory, or up to 2 or 3 optional performance modes. Your choice, and its user selectable and "password" protected, so if you want to let your kids drive it, place it in factory mode, but for daddy, its stage III perfromance, he he he...[sm=smiley4.gif] Its about $500 for the basic setting, but for each additional switchable setting its about another $150 each, but when its in factory mode, its supposed to be undetectable. For the 2.0t it bumps the HP to 250 hp.
