I have recently bought an A3 1.9TDI 5 door SE 56 plate and on the dash board as well as the speedometer, rev counter and the warning lights within these such as seatbelt, handbrake etc, I have a small portrait screen in the middle that is off. Does anyone know if this should be information such as mpg, fuel left etc or on this version is it meant to be a black screen with no information? Does anyone have an idea how I would turn this on if it can be?

you're right, thats where that sort of trip information should be, including info from your headunit too. if its not going then it may need to be turned on via VagCom or there's a fault. If it was me, I'd go to the local dealer and ask. Won't take long for an answer, and they might even be able to turn it on with their VagCom there and then. If its stuff, then get out the cheque book.
