electric front windows work intermittently
I have a late 2001 1.8T Ambiente with a really strange problem.
About a year ago, shortly after a service at the local main dealers, the drivers side front window suddenly failed to operate, and a couple of days later the same happened to the passenger side. The windows were up, but I could hear faint clicks in the door panel when the switches were pressed either up or down. It stayed like this for months (I should have taken it into the dealer I know, I just got used to them not working), but about two months ago, suddenly, for no reason, the passenger side window started working perfectly normally, followed a day or two later by the drivers side. Great joy in the family!
Sadly it didn't last, as first one, then the other stopped working again a day or two later, and have remained like that ever since.
Never any problem with the rear electric windows, they've always worked perfectly.
Has anyone out there had a similar problem, and if so, what was the cause? Clearly can't be a fuse, but I'd be grateful for any pointers.
