Grinding Gearbox

Hey guys

I have a 1999 Audi A3 1.8 and whenever I change from 2nd to 3rd at high rpm the gearbox grinds terribly. Any ideas on what this is?

could it be the revs are too high after all it wasn't designed to change gear in 2nd-3rd at that rpm perhaps your over doing it?

Like 5k rpm.

And there is no 6 speed I could replace it with hey? Just out of curiosity.

5k is about slipping the clutch in those gears for maximum tread torque to the road and not wise, 6 speed is for cruising the motorways so would be useless to you
