Default HID Conversion

I wish my car had the HIDs, but selection was tight and I had to do without themto get the other things I wanted. I've been thinking about doing the HID conversion for a while, but haven't made the leap yet. Anyone out there done the HID conversion? Did you replace the housings and if so, where did you get them? What size bulbs did you use? I've been thinking about the Euro housings from ECS, butthey are a bit pricey at $850. Anyone out there use these housings? Where did you purchase your HIDs?

Default RE: HID Conversion

I went from stock xenon to aftermarket xenon...

As for halogen to aftermarket xenon, that is very possibly. It is advised that you purchase an e-code housing. I am pretty sure they make them for the A3. If you can afford that, then go for it, because the US-spec housing is far less superior than that of the e-code. E-code housings offer a much better and stronger beam, and arguably better light output. Next you are going to want to find out your bulb size, this will be in your manual, or you could search the forums, or you could go to www.visionbulbs.com (also happens to be a sponsor of our forums). From their site you can find the correct size bulb and order yourself a kit for only 199.98 shipped.

I ordered a 6000k kit from them and I am using the stock housing, it still looks good but I will be upgrading in the future.

As for ECS...they are a reputable site but check the forums, people can usually help you get a better deal.
