yeah i got tired of the crap interior and whatnot
Amen to that. I thought I'd miss the performance and tossability of my WRX, but I've gladly given that up for an interior that isn't a plastic buzz-box.

Im looking to buy a 6-speed 2006 a3 next month, im planning on doing exhaust, CAI and a chip, ive seen HP/TQ at about 260/299, has anyone with similar upgrades run the 1/4 mile or know an estimate times, how much will it improve the 0-60 times, thanks!! Im used to having a WRX so i want to make sure im not downgrading (in speed) too much...
Thanks hangten93, I was wandering the same thing. It is probably more politically correct to talk about HP or torque increase than actual performances. Unless everybody here gets a kick out of watching their dyno read out, what we want is better performance!

This thread at least tells me how far behind I would be racing Chef’s car…
I know I can beat A3Night's old A3 but then again, just pushing mine I could probably go faster….Not a good joke, I apologize in advance, difficult to fight the urge for stupid comment... I know what it is to lose a car. Actually, I bought the same exact one again so my wife’s parents did not have to know we were in an accident…

Olivier, you could smoke my car at the moment because it is sitting in pieces in the body shop.[:@][:'(] Hopefully it will be done before your Long Beach trip? If not, then you might hear on the news about some crazed gunman who took out an entire autobody shop because his car wasn't fixed on time.

As far as mileage goes, I have noticed about a 2mpg drop with all my mods. However, I drive very spiritedly and use all of the power more often than you might. With somewhat conservative driving, you wouldn't notice a change. But then again, why do the mods if you are continuing to drive conservatively???[sm=bangbang.gif]

Cheers!

hahaha - I can read the headlines "Chef went postal"... I unfortunately will be stuck in the show most of the time... If you pass by, I will know it's you from the rattling.......

I cannot wait to go full throttle (915miles on the counter today)...But ifI average about 20mph with my foot off the gas, the Revo or APR (not made a decision yet) and my foot on the gas will ruin me !!! I should buy stock in petroleum companies, I am going to give them lots of money in the next few years...

With a bit of luck, I may have my car back, AND fitted with the Konis before the show next weekend. Unfortunately, luck hasn't been with this Irishman recently.[sm=smiley18.gif]

Cheers!

The way gas prices are inching up, don't worry you will be giving them lots of money!

Check out this dallasgasprices.com site which you can see gas prices for any local area for the last 6 years. Just select a different city from customize price charts for major USA and Canada cities. Six years ago gas in my area was $1.59, currently its $3.38 for regular.

Hi JohnS1 - that is a pretty cool site - I wished they had some European cities too. Eveytime I have visit they still see it as cheap but when you look at this graph, it shows a trend that is alarming. I remember hearing a government speech stating that at least the gas price was not a bad as Europe... I told everyone to run for the hills, as soon as you hear this, you know pricing is going to go up, as soon as you hear those magic words, "things/prices/whatever are not as bas as 'someplace else' " than things are going to get worse. We should go back to horses and wagons... What kind of mods work with those? Quad exhaust? Cold air out-take?...

Another question, a serious one, I have read some threads about chip modding and although the consensus is it is the best bang for the buck (whichever the choice), there does not seem to be a consensus on when to actually do it? Some have done with just hundred miles, some have waiting the 1K mark and some after the 1st service. Common sense would tell me to wait until the 1K mark. It does seem to make sense to wait until the 1st service. Any feedback to provide?

PS: JohnS1, you can come to Florida, I was happy to see that we are a little below the US average and WAY bellow CA – which I am assuming you are from. Yesterday I paid $3.19 for 93 and it did hurt… I can’t imagine where you live… I would take some prozac before going to the pump …

Well here's a few links: TaxiGas.co.uk, and check out the UKPIA EU pump price comparison PDF for Feburary 2007. Your right Olivier the graph shows for our future a very scary pricing trend.

I agree with the 1K mark, as soon as Audi says your car is broken in is what I expect is the earliest time to start chipping your engine. It certainly doesn't hurt to wait until after your first service (5K miles), that way the A3 is well broken in, rather then marginally broken in.

Yes Californa where I live sucks as far as gas prices!
