just dont go in wearing jeans ( the most common cause for rips in the seat ) ware a suit and they night offer you a job
That is funny that you said that! Because when I was shopping around for my Audi it was difficult to get a sales person who took me seriously. The reason is because I am in Advertising, on the creative side of it, and my job doesnt require me to be dressed up at all, not even business casual. So, when I walked into Audi dealerships, especially on my lunch break or after work, I didnt get any approach or hasslement from the sales people. It was ok in a way, but when I was ready to buy it was a pain! haha. Plus I look young, and that threw the sales people off also.

But I will make sure not to wear jeans or have any sharp item accesories on me.

Got my 2nd oil change done yesterday. Brought it in at 11,000 miles, instead of waiting for the 15k service.

Mentioned my issue's that I posted on this topic:

They fixed the rattling of the open-sky. It was an alert and spec on the Tech Bulletin Board at the service dept at my dealer, so they knew about it. So far, so good, dont hear the rattling anymore.

Also, they are replacing the leather portion of the seat that has the rip/tear. They defined it as a "crack".
Have to bring it back in 1 week when the part comes in.

All was covered under warranty!

They topped all fluids, washed and vaccum also.

I just paid $105 for the oil change. Not bad at all.

Oh and they gave me a brand spanking new A6 for a loaner car

I'm also a young-ish looking creative...the local dealership wouldn't give me the time of day when I was looking around the lot.

My Open Sky started rattling a bit last month, but out of frustration I opened it and bumped the edge of the panel around firmly with the palm of my hand...whatever micro-adjustment I made with that has worked so far. As for the A6, I got one for a day, too! Nice, but very big and not as fun.

I hear ya about the A6, definetly my same thoughts, way to big and not fun at all.
Also, it doesnt get any speed until you really push on the gas. Feels way to heavy.
I couldnt wait to get my A3 back.

Glad to hear your open-sky stopped rattling after your fix!

Kindof hard to get an Audi Dealer interested in you when you have a buttcrack on the back of your T-shirt

Noob question:

Is it seriously bad to wear jeans on leather?

I've honestly never heard of that.

Yes. Please - someone give a really good explanation as to why it is not good to wear jeans on leather. Apart from shorts - I don't really wear anything else.

The basic reasoning is that jeans are one of the "toughest" materials, and they can wear and dry the leather out more quickly than other materials. Just make sure you keep your seat well conditioned and you shouldn't have a problem. There's my $.02 worth.

Cheers!

If jeans are bad for leather upholstery, are they also bad for cloth? Yikes; yet another reason I wish there was a cloth option on the 3.2!

As for dressing down and attention from dealers, I had previously emailed the dealer in my area to make an appointment for a test drive, so when I showed up looking like a complete bum (t-shirt, rolled up over-sized cargo pants, unshaven), they were still very polite and attentive.

In general I've found that greasing the wheels via email communication always smoothes things over once I get to the dealerships. For example, I settled on a price via email, so once I walked into the dealership to sign the papers, it took only 20 minutes before I was out the door again. (This is a 2008 pre-order, so I expect I'll spend a lot more time at the dealership once the car arrives, and I inspect it.)
