Default Intake woes

Today I pulled a dumb move (or maybe it's just the POS design of the engine cover) while taking the engine cover off to clean my Carbonio intake filter. I disconnected the Carbonio carbon snout and the inlet tube. Three tugs and snap..the top cover broke-crap! Now I'm faced with getting raped at the Audi dealership for a new cover, or buying a used one (anybody have one for an 06?) or going a different route with a new intake that eliminates the cover. My question is which replacement will do the job? Thanks for your help.

By the way, it's a 2.0.

That sucks!

I have the stock cover, but I was kinda holding on to it in case I sell the car. The dealer will charge you about the same rate as a new CAI. My suggestion would be to buy a new CAI, and sell the Carbonio to somebody else.

Cheers!

The Evoms cover is smaller than stock, made to fit around a full aftermarket intake. The Carbonio intake retains partial use of the intake ductiing that is integrated to the OEM cover.

Thanks to Vincent I'm back in business. He offered his 1 month old complete air box/cover. Just installed it. Any advise in how to avoid breaking this cover the next time I clean the filter? Any tricks on how to pop this off would be appreciated. Dan

Grip it and rip it...sorry couldn't resist, you do have to pull hard on those suction cups, i just pulled hard round and round till she popped.

That's what I did and she cracked across and three of the screw bosses inside the top cover broke loose. Has anyone applied grease to the rubber grommets?

You must be one tough ****. I apply a good deal of pressure around each side, rotating until you can get each side to pop off. Just don't keep tugging and tugging on one area.

Fortunately, I don't have to worry about that anymore. Sorry.

Cheers!
