Well, the wireless controls on my key stopped working a couple weeks ago and I waited until the 15k service this week to have the battery replaced. I was told that it's not that easy anymore and they need all of the keys when they replace the battery because they all need to be coded again with the immobilizer. My last VW was a quick replacement with no problems. Just wondering if this is a dealer thing, or the truth.

Also, I have a CAI on the car and they said nothing at all about it being there. Although, on my bill it did have replacement of the air filter listed in the 15k mile service. Of course I wasn't charged for anything and they bent over backwards to get everything done on my car and such, so I didn't say anything about the filter.

so are they saying that they need your keys for an undetermined amount of time to recode them?
as long as they give you a loaner car, i'd let them do whatever they need to in order to get that fixed. IMO, the convenience of the key working properly is worth the inconvenience it takes for them to fix it.....don't you think?
i DO know that it's not as simple as a just battery replacement.
