Key stuck
Hi I'm Ryan,. I own a audi a3 2.0l tdi sport. It has developed a problem where my key is stuck in the ignition and no matter what I do I cannot get it out. Any advice on what my next step is as I have sprayed it with wd40 and that has had no effect.
It is stuck in the "ignition on" position it will start the engine if i disconnect and reconnect the battery. It will not lock the steering lock and it will not turn the car off. It happened when i put the steering lock on. It got stuck in the "off position" and i managed to get it to turn to the "ignition on" position. I just haven't been able to get it to go back to car off position and it will not come out
A common problem with mechanical steering column locks is they partially jam because the front tires are exerting some side pressure on the steering column. The usual solution is to jiggle the steering wheel side-to-side while turning the key. If that doesn't work you are probably looking at something expensive.
