I bought an Audi A3 a few weeks ago from a car auction, my first car!

There's a thing stuck near the rearview mirror which is like a little microphone.

My uncle thinks it is just to receive my keys signal when to open the doors/lock etc, but most others think it is a microphone.

Anyone know how I could see what it is? I also have a phone holder thing that is wired inside, but the phone holder is for a "classic" style Nokia phone, and I only have an iPhone. Assuming the microphone is linked to that?

I've noticed people selling official Audi iPhone cradles on eBay - is there any way to use one of these to link it with the microphone (if that is what it is) and also to play music with? I don't seem to have any audio connections besides a standard Audi Concert CD player.
