I have an 06 A3 which I absolutely love. I am looking to replace the stock Pirelli P6 tires, mostly because of how loud they are .. this is the only thing about the car that I am unhappy with. I don't need anything for snow, since I live in southern California and want a good performance tire but don't want to spend more than $150 per tire. Could you make some recommendations?

In that price range you could look at something Bridgestone RE070 or Conti Sport Contact. Thats my opinion.

 

You could always come out to a SoCal GTG and see all kinds of options. Some of us might even give you a test ride.
