Need all of the Tire Experts Advice Here ...
OK. Search has yielded a bunch of jumbled and not complete info.
I am in need of a set of tires (all 4) that are similiar to 205/55R16.
These will eventually turn into my Inclement weather tires and wheels when I replace them with something sportier for the summer season. We are basically looking for an All-Season Performance Tire. Something that handles well in the rain and snow, but at the same time will drive alright in the dry and summer and won't wear down too quickly. Handling is always a plus, but I think you guys know what I'm getting at.
I want the most bang for my buck. Hoping to keep the buck down as low as possible as these will be an interim tires for only the inclement weather like I said, hopefully to be replaced within the next year or so.
Thanks for any help on this issue as well, you guys have never let me down!

With hardly a doubt in my mind -- Avon Tech M550 A/S
80 bucks a tire at tirerack
EDIT: funny, cause the first tire that popped into my head was the P-Nero M+S... but I figured it was too expensive. I often forget about Avon tires (because I CANT GET THEM) haha, stupid canada.
The avon tech M550 A/S actually is ranked 1st in tirerack's customer reviews.. out of 17 tires. The p-nero was 2nd (and 105 a tire -- cheaper than I thought). Another tire I considered was the pilot sport A/S, which are an awesome all season for the dry and wet... but the snow is terrible. haha I have them on my camaro -- it saw snow once, it was SCARY. Anyways, these 80 dollar avons beat out tires like the michelin, continental extreme contacts and other very expensive tires... IMO it's a no brainer.

Awesome. I appreciate the advice! BTW, I'll be getting your CD out to ya sometime early next week. I've finally got them to just send me a brand new Powerbook.
I was sweating that for a day or two!

Haha, I can imagine you were sweating! Those things don't come cheap! :P
Let me know how you make out with the tires! Some people don't like to buy from tirerack... and that's the only place you can get the avon's, I think. Otherwise, if the price isnt out of your budget... snag the pirelli's... I know a guy that used them for summer tires, and he raved about them... 400 treadwear too, so they'd last forever. But yes, #1 pick is the avon.

I've been reading up on the Avon's and shoot they are looking pretty good. Do you have any idea on the expected life of these tires?
I was also getting ready to replace the brake pads as they didn't pass inspection and was looking around on the forums, and saw that mroe or less Hawk or PBR were some decent "performance" brake pade where as Mintex was more or less a stock performing pad with less dust? Do you have any insight on that one?
And if I replace the pads now, and decided in 2k miles I wanted to replace the rotors, do you think I would need to actually go out and get new pads again? I've heard that the wear in on these would need to be with new pads?
I appreciate it!

Listen....just go with the Falken Azenis RT615's.....they are f**king unbelievable in the dry....you just gotta watch out for that wet stuff though.....just kidding....the avons are good tires, a friend of mine has them. Good lifetime on them. But one day, I will have the azenis.....wish I hadn't just bought new tires a month ago.....but that just means I have to wear these out fast, which is no problem at all...lol.

Falkens last a long time, but I have the FK451's in my driveway, and they are nothing to write home about.
The avons will last a very long time... treadwear is a 360, which is very high -- think potenza's & pilots, which are usually 220 or so.
They also got a 8.9 rating for treadwear... as well as an 8.9 for noise.
I hate noisy tires more than I hate tires that wear out quickly! But seriously... if I lived in USA, I'd likely be rolling on these when my firehawks wore out!

I agree, azenis are bad-*** tires for dry weather. I used the "old" azenis as a track tire for a while, it worked ok.
Now I'm looking into those Avons, just because my front tires are pieces of ****, so much less grippier than my rear tires (which I forgot the brand). I actually understeer a lot in the rain with them. Maybe I'll half rotate them since they're directional
