DSG is a slick transmission, and I liked the thought of having DSG, it just wouldn't work for the long haul. I'm just too much of a manual man and love the feel. Most DSG'ers end up not using the paddles much at all after the initial love phase. Might as well have an automatic as far as I'm concerned.
BTW, I would be happy to school any DSG car at the moment if they think they can take me off of the line and beat me in a race. How's that for some cojones??? You just have to wait until I get my car back on Friday.[:@]
It is much easier to shift using paddles on windy mountain roads, maybe on normal freeway and so forth I don't use paddles much.

So you are going to race "any DSG" car to prove that you are the one to beat with a stick. (LAX cops will be camped near your house)
Ok, All you VW GTI's, R32's with DSG, and all models of Audi A3, TT with DSG...Mr macho man Chef wants to race. [sm=icon_rock.gif]

Chef I don't think you want to include any Bugatti's do you? [sm=laughat.gif]
Chef, remember what is best in life: “To crush your enemies, See them driven before you, Hear the lamentation of the women”

I am rooting for you! I will be on the sideline though...

BTW, the Veyron is a 7gear DSG-like, not the same, I believe that top of the 4th gear it is doing 155mph with 3 more gears to go... But you can do it Chef!

Chef, do you feel the tire made the most difference insofar that wheel spinning is concerned? I am still trying to negotiate the 1st gear and it is a little frustrating to find the right balance.

To DSG people, the best view to see the difference between DSG and MT is the easy way and the hard way. With an MT, you know one error will cost you, with DSG people fall into what I would call the “comatomatic” stasis where things come easy to them... Tsk tsk.
Easy is not rewarding...
Oliver,

I totally understand where you are coming from... its just.. well.. since my car isnt a dedicated race car it is WAY convenient AND fun having DSG. I think its absolutley amazing technology.

RasLion, no problem,I totally understand why you feel you have to justify to others and yourself US$1500 worth of upgrade... If it makes you feel all tingly inside, gives you a warm feeling, helps you sleep at night[sm=sleeping.gif], then good for you!lol

Okay Gents. My point was to race other A3's, not Million-Dollar Supercars.

I'm not sure that I would pay somebody $1500 to shift for me, but if she was cute enough??? LOL

Cheers!

Haha! Consider the $1500 a small price to pay for me not going crazy in SoCal traffic

I consider the stop-n-go traffic in LA with a manual as exercise for my left leg. It gets me in shape for the next person that runs into my Audi, cause I'm going to kick their A$$!!!

Haha amen to that. I am terrified of someone crashing into my car. I am always looking in my rear view mirror watching the person behind me on a handheld phone approaching way too fast! "Bi*** you'd better not hit my car!"

I'm soooooo skitish now about people stopping behind me. I'm cool with blowing down the road at 100+ mph, but stopping...[&:]

See now you are opening a whole new can of worms... Let me not start with people using their phones while driving, the other day, I had this guy swerve into my lane talking on the phone while his left foot was up in his window. I have to admire his flexibility because I cannot do it myself but you have to admit that this is a big no-no. 1 hand and 1 foot driver… Where the heck are we going to? Probably only half a brain to go with it too!
