noise since cleaning MAF

noise since cleaning MAF
Hi All
I have an A3 1.8T. The other day I cleaned my MAF sensor. I took the entire MAF off the car, cleaned it and replaced it back into the car.
Since then the car has run pretty smooth, but there has been a noise - almost like a fan when I accelerate hard - almost like a vacuum hose might be loose... but I can't see any vacuum hose...
I just wanted to check - in the Haynes Manual these are the firststeps to remove the air cleaner (air filter box)& MAF:
1. Remove the clip connecting air inlet duct to the MAF.
2. Disconnect the wiring plug on the MAF. Also disconnect the vacuum hose below the MAF wiring connector. I cant see this vacuum hose below my MAF wiring? Is it there on 1.8T's or is the manual just being generic?
I have only twothingsconnected tomy air filter box housing:
1. the MAF
2. An intercooler hose (I think)which goes from the air filter box, to the front of the car/
I dont see any vacuum hose? Is this correct?
Has anyone else had extra noise once cleaning their MAF? Maybe my MAF is on it's way out...
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

RE: noise since cleaning MAF
Thanks - it may be nothing - it might just be that now I've cleaned my MAF, it's letting more air in but it's def different to before.
I've ordered a brand new Bosch MAF for £50 so I'll put that in and see if that solves the issue.
Checked the intake pipe and hoses today - it all seems fine.
I'm going to get a K&N air filter too - hopefully that wont kill my new MAF!
