Default Oil Consumption

Got a 2006 with DSG, I go through 1litre every 1500 miles or 2400 km. Asked Audi, they said "it was within the acceptable tolerance". It has only 20000K's on it, does this make sense? I'm worried about longevity.

Change the pcv or puck valve, those always get plugged on the 2.0T motor. Its located under the engine cover on top of the engine.

Sounds like a good tip auditech79!
[ul][*]Is the puck valve another name for the positive crankcase ventilation valve? Or are they 2 different valves?[*]How often do they typically need to be replaced?[*]Why do they become plugged so frequently?[*]Why does a plugged pcv or puck valve increase oil consumption?[*]Should ace2525 be concerned about the "longevity" of his 2.0T motor?[/ul]Thanks!

My car burned a full quart on the last oil change(oil from audi service). I changed it myself this last time with Torco Racing synthetic oil, it is VW501.whatever approved, so no warranty issues and it hasn't burned a single drop in 3000miles, and thats including day at the track, driving hard enough that my exhaust melted my rear bumper a bit. I will not use anything else in my car ever again.

Well to answer all of your questions, the 2.0T engine is built with extremely tight tolerances, which means there is almost no leaks in the PCV system. If you take off the oil cap and start the engine it will almost be miss-firing because the computer is desinged to see a very low amount of air escaping.
With that being said a lot of crap gets passed through the PCV valve and often clogges it, when it gets clogged pressure gets pushed into the crankcase and works it way under the piston and eventually burns it off through combustion increasing oil burn off. Running a seafoam treatment through the oil every 40k should help relieve these symptoms.
