Default outside temperature indicator

Hi Guys,

I got a 2001 A3 1.8Tand loving the performance improvement over my 2002 A3 1.6.

My 2002 A3 1.6 has a outside temperature indicator on the instrument panel, but it seems missing on my 2001 A3 1.8T.

Am I missing something? Can it be added somehow?

The temperature indicator is part of what Audi call the 'onboard computer'. It is a factory fitoption, and as far as I know it is not a simple add-on, once the car has left the factory.

Is there different versions (features)of the 'onboard computer'?
Both cars do not have the fuel consumption / trip / other features one would expect from a 'onboard computer'.

I'm not sure. Ambient temperature is an enginer parameter, so it may be that it had been added through VAGCOM... but I'm not sure.

With VAG-COM the instrument cluster doesn't allow for much coding, well not aything to do with ambient temperature. (Found something for the Audi A4 8E tho). The Adaptation, Function 10, Channel 19seems to read the ambient temperature value into the instrument cluster on my 2002, but has a zero value on the 2001.

Guess I'll just have to live without it [:@]
