They all seem to give the same gains. About 50 hp and 100 ft lbs
I was leaning heavily towards APR but after talking to the dealership, and their lead mechanic who is also well versed in modding, i swapped to neuspeed. I was told APR asks much more of our engines, therefore the chances of blowing an engine or certain parts (DV, Fuel Pumps, etc) are higher. Neuspeed doesn't "push" your engine into a danger zone. Also APR chip apparently has no middle ground, its basically either "OFF" or "ZOOOOOOOM," where as neuspeed you can drive at normal speeds and its fine. I have never driven an APR chipped car so I can't say speak the truth, just what I was told. The main reason i went Neuspeed was the fact that if something shud go wrong with my car...my dealership will basically look the other way because of their relationship. The good thing about APR is you can swap programs (valet, stock, etc.) but i believe neuspeed is the only chip that can be FULLY erased. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
As far as gains, converted is about right on. The HP gains are max at 252, torque is just over 300lbs. I believe 304.
I went chip first, then the same evening installed my CAI myself.
edeckerpc - i think the only reason my dealership has relations with neuspeed is because they are just right down the road from neuspeed. However, it is worth a shot. Some people think it is not a good idea to mention modding to the dealer, but they actually brought it up first to me!
the nest part about it is i was getting paid for work while i got the chip done! got some free time while on the clock and zipped over there!

It does void the warranty it just sounds like the brodie got lucky and has a dealership that is willing to look the other way b/c of the proximity/freindship with neuspeed. I have heard a couple ppl say that their dealerships look the other way when it comes to chipping. I haven't asked my dealership yet but I am going to next time I take it in for the 15000 check up.
Just make sure you have a service advisor that you feel you can trust to discuss this with. I think I just read a service notice sent to Audi dealer service centers re: how to tell if a car has been chipped. There seems to be some flags and bits they can read that indicate whether it has been chipped or has been chipped before. (I forgot the source but I read this recently and it was a scan of the notice.)
I'd rather go to an independant that I can forge a close relationship with to take the car to for maintenance and servicing.

Hey Joe,
Sway and grubble are exactly right. I am lucky ONLY because of the relationship my dealer has with neuspeed. It's not that my warranty won't be voided, its that they will look the other way and/or work closely with neuspeed if something should fail on my car. That's all. I didn't mean to give the impression that no matter who, what, where, when you chip your car....your warranty will remain intact. That is not the case at all. I trust my dealer as the mechanic TOLD me to go and they would take care of me no matter what happens. So we will see what happens should anything go wrong. God forbid. Haha.
On the other hand I have heard that chipping alone won't void your warranty, however, if something goes wrong that is directly attributed to the chip then those parts will not be covered. I don't know how true this is.

I love to see the new car owners come along and feel the difference when our cars are chipped. It definitely MAKES this car SOOOOOOO much better. Careful or you'll always be craving more.
Cheers!

Cheers!
Chef...sorry to bombard you with questions but this is all new to me so I am nervous that something is wrong simply because I don't know. But how is your mileage after chipping? Should I be concerned if mine reduced? And yes I am already craving more and its great to see you still are enthusiastic about others modding their cars and all of your input is greatly appreciated....can I kiss your *** anymore??? hahah
No *** kissing please.[sm=noooo.gif]
My mileage is around 20mpg if I'm enthusiastic on the throttle most of the tank. Otherwise, I get around 24-25mpg in mixed driving on the LA roads. I would expect you'd get better mileage in most other areas, and around 30mpg on the highways still. Hope that helps.
