Yeah...I am in LA as well and I actually have been around 15 mpg on streets! not so happy about that. I feel like something must be wrong. Got up to 25 highway so far. Tomorrow I will have a chance to really test the mileage. Going paintballing so its a good drive. Ill really be able to tell what my car is getting mileage wise. Havent done too much since i chipped.

no more *** kissing from me!! hahha

One thing to remember is you're burning more fuel, which is the main reason why the car has more power. This is also why your mileage tends to be reduced when you're driving around town free spirited, but while under normal driving habits your mileage should be about the same if now better at times as a result of the more effective tuning.

If you were to custom tune your car, the elements that would restrict how much you can demand from the engine would be the fueling system and the turbo. At some point you could only demand so much fuel from the fuel pump before you would lose fuel pressure and be faced with a CEL. After upgrading the fueling you would then be restricted with the amount of power the turbo can produce. This is disregarding the transmission and a few other elements but this is put into words that relate to how tuning works. In the case of your chip it is only demanding power gains within ALL stock mechanical limitations.

Since you're in the SoCal area, you need to come to one of our monthly GTG's. We have a fine group of enthusiasts and all around great guys. Also, you'll get a chance to see many A3's with different levels of tuning and mods. If you talk nice to me, I might even show you how well our cars can fly. LOL

Check out the "West" section at the bottom of the main forum listing. Also, read up on the A3 information link at the top of the A3 forum, or click on my signature line. Great discussion there.

Cheers!

So after a few good long drives yesterday, my mileage seems to be good. I only dropped MAYBE 10 miles per tank. I am right around where you are chef. 20 to 25 mpg on streets and 30 sometimes 35 average on highways. Now I have no doubts about my mods. Super stoked once again.

Chef...I'd love to come to one of the GTG's. Ill read up and see if I can make it to the next one. It would be great to meet some of you guys who have been answering my questions here! Thanks!

I'm in the process of building a house in the San Antonio area. It should be completed June/July 2008, then I'll be moving out there permanently. For now, I'm still cruisin the beaches.[sm=shades.gif]

Cheers!
