Default Rear sway bar question

I admit I know zero when it comes to suspensions and installations and such. Hopefully someone can clear up a point for me.

Many have stated the benefits of installing an aftermarket RSB in a A3. Isn'ta RSBalready part of the rear suspension and, if so, what are the differences betweenstock and, say a Neuspeed, for example? Is it just the thickness of the bar?

The reason I am asking is that I will only do two mods to my A3. One is a ECU upgrade. The other will be a RSB and I'd justlike to know what the differences are and how it is better.

Thanks.

Difference is in the stiffness and rate of the bar. Most aftermarket bars have several sets of holes, to give different rate (leverage). Without going into all the stuff about diagonal vs side to side weight transfer, astiffer rear bar lessens terminal understeer on the A3

Default RE: Rear sway bar question

With a stiff rear sway bar, you can bring the back end of the car out around a turn, if you try really hard. It basically keeps the car from moving sideways as much in a corner resulting in a better feel and performance. Definitely a worthwhile mod for our cars. And yes, the bar is thicker, and definitely a lot stiffer than the stock one.

Cheers!
