Recommendation for autocross wheels in stock size/offset
I'm looking to get a set of lightweight rims for my A3 2.0T S-line for autocrossing this season. That said, I plan to run G-stock, which means I need to keep the stock 17x7.5 wheel size. The 56mm offset seems problematic to locate in aftermarket rims... :-/
In any case, if anyone can recommend a set of lightweight rims in the stock 17x7.5 size and close to 56mm offset, I'd be appreciative!
Closest I could find meeting criteria is on TireRack here: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...amp;sort=Brand
These guys came real close, but unfortunately are 17x8...

You are in my house now .
SCCA Solo2 Stock rules allow a 1/4" slack in offset - that's just over 6mm, so you can go to a 50mm offset.
OZSuperleggera 17X7.5 50MM offset is within Spec for GStock. at 20.5 Lbs it's "pretty light"
Hoosier A6 245/40-17s MAY fit with occaisional rubbing (wont fit with stock 56mm offset rim)
Hoosier A6 225/45-17s WILL fit (they are only 1/4" narrower in real life)
Kumho V710 225/45-17 WILL fit (don't even try the 245/45-17s - too big)
Kumhos last a lot longer, and are not that much if any slower than the Hoosiers.
Audi offers the "Calera A3" wheel as an option btw - I believe it's 18X8. Not sure what SCCA says about dealer installed factory options, but this may make 18X8s G/S legal on an a3, in which case the OZ Ultraleggera 18X8 would be my choice in a heartbeat. (if you don't mind the extra cost for 18" tires).
And while we're in the neighborhood, these are all Solo2 G/S legal mods:
[ul][*]Koni Sport Shocks and Euro S-Line Springs[*]A "competition alignment" with less toe in and more negative camber[*]Front Strut "Crash Bolts" to get another degree of negative camber[*]AWE 2.5" Cat-back(the 3" cat-backs will suck your low end torque and kill you coming off corners)[*]A K&N Air Filter will flow better than stock. Whether that's meaningful or not is another question. It's good for about 1 MPG getting to and from events, though.[/ul]
Now, go kick a Mini-Cooper S for us!

These guys have a ton of 17 x 7.5 wheels in Audi pattern, but you'll have to Email for specs.

panzrwagon- Agreed that the OZSuperleggera 17X7.5 is not the lightest I've seen... I saw some wheels ~17.5lbs. Question is, has anyone seen a wheel for sale in the US that is lighter and comes as close to matching the stock 56mm offset?

Quick question-- would a 48mm offset work?
Here are some Enkei wheels I found at 17.5lbs,17x7.5", 48mm offset...

Price is a bit breathtaking...

RE: Recommendation for autocross wheels in stock size/offset
All Audi A3 factory wheels are 7.5"width, even some styles not normally availble in the US. However, the 18s are 54mm offset, so an 18X7.5-48MM offset would be G/S legal, whereas the 17s are 17X7.5-50MM.
Since 225/40-18s tend to run about $100 a set more than 225/45-17s, I would be tempted to go the 17"route, or maybe 245/40-17s Hoosiers if you could try them to make sure theyclear everythingwith your wheels. Any way, figure $800 a set for Kumhos, and $900 or a $1000 for the Hoosiers. Kumhos last longer than Hoosiers, and that's what I run on my BMW and are very happy with them, just wish they made a few more sizes. And, according to Grassroots MotorSports test in 11/07, the Kumhos are faster.
