Around here they're slow enough that I should be honking, not waving.

Lots of A4s and A6s here but largely the drivers are too busy yapping on their cell phones and not paying attention...to anyone or anything. Same with the A3s, but based on their general air of self-importance and the stripped down trim lines, I'm pretty sure lots of them just got the cheapest Audi they could find just for the sake of owning an Audi.

The 2-3 enthusiasts I've seen (the ones with S4s and S6s) have always thrown a wave or struck up a conversation.
My A3 is completely base (except for the Lava Grey paint and DSG). It pretty much was the least expensive (new) Audi I found, but I assure you that's not why I bought it. After close to a year of researching different cars (and a few trucks) I was absolutely in love with the A3. It just so happened that the one I ended up with is the only one I found within 250 mi. that was Lava Grey with DSG. Plus, the sales manager at that dealer was a family friend so I got the hook-up!

The office park where I work is a huge zip code crawling with the keeping-up-with-the-joneses mentality. Once something appears that seems desirable, 100 other people have it a month later (from cars tooffice gadgets).Seen it with H2s, BMW 3 series and now the Saturn Sky...maybe the A3 is the next automotive trend.

Leather has given me a few bouts of wet spot on the back of my shirt, but nothing too terrible. If cloth seats were an option for the 3.2 I probably would have gone for them. Luckily the summer's about over.

Re: Phildo, is your rear spoilerpainted the body color?Mine's painted black.

In Los Angeles, from the West L.A. to Downtown, I see A3's literally everyday. I would have to say an average of one a day.

Most of them I see aren't totally stripped down though - see a lot with sports package (s-line). I only see bone-stock ones though - ones without even clear or smoked side markers (which makes the A3 look soooo much better) so I guess I still feel a tiny bit special ....
That'd be me!

You'll know when I'm around because I'll be the obnoxiously loud A3 that's simply a blur as it blows by you.... LOL

Cheers!

Drumdork03;
That's like the town we live in. It's almost pathetic. Funny about the Sky. The big trend this summer was the accountants, lawyers and dentists with their Harleys. Amazing how many of them are out at the local snowball stand checking their messages on their blackberries.
