Default Slight movement after put in park position.

I have had my 2007 2.0 DSG A3 model for about 3 months now. Whenever I put the car in Park on a slightly sloped drive way or surface, I notice the car would slide backwards a bit after I lift my foot off the brake pedal. The only way to prevent this from happening is to apply the parking breaks before I lift off my foot. Is this normal?

Yea I think its normal, just slides back a little more than most cars ive driven. I also get a roll back when I park in my driveway but ive got used to it by just easing the break after its in park to when it stops. So it might just develop into a habit for you too haha

Remember, the DSG is truly a "manual" car with dual clutches. If you leave your manual car in gear on a slight incline, it will roll a little back too as the car engages the gear. I would definitely use the parking brake at all times when parking. Like was said, it is just a good habit to get into.

Cheers!

also put apply the e brake while in neutral, let it roll into the e-brake, then put in gear. Less stress on the gear.

I had the same thing happen but it rolled forward a little. I used to never use my parking break but i found it helps alot.

Yep, normal, but watch out if stopped at a steep uphill intersection. Best to tap the brake once and thenimmediately step on it again to enable the hill hold assist. Had I not read about this on the forum here, i would have rolled my brand new car into another while driving off the dealer lot for the first time!

Everyone, thanks for your comments. Sounds like I should start using the parking brakes.

I always use the parking brake when parking. Definitely a must-do on the many steep hills of Seattle.

parking brake = e-brake or emergency brake

e-brake = emergency brake. I should have thought of that. I thought is was some kind of electronic brake that I am not aware of. Thanks for the clearification.
