Hey, my starter just broke down, so i need to get the manufacturer code to get a new one. But where is the starter located, and how do you remove it?
I have an a3, 1.8 not turbo, -99.
Please help

 

Removing and installing starter[/align]Vehicles with 4-cylinder petrol engine[/align]









Removing

‒Remove engine cover.
‒Remove battery => Page 27-4 onwards.
‒→ Remove battery carrier -arrows-. [/ul]











‒→ Unplug connector -1-.
‒Unclip connector from cable guide.
‒Detach wires -2- and -3- at starter.
‒Take wiring out of guide. [/ul]










‒→ Screw out bolt -arrow-.
‒Detach power steering pressure pipe. [/ul]











‒Unscrew wire guide.
‒→ Screw out top starter securing bolt -1-. [/ul]










‒→ Remove centre noise insulation -arrows-. [/ul]
Note:
Fig. shows vehicle with petrol engine.











‒→ Screw out bottom starter securing bolt -2-.
‒Take out starter. [/ul]
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

‒Install battery carrier and battery.
‒Connect battery. Action to be taken => Page 27-13. [/ul]
