Default **Question of the day!!!** please help! Rear Driveshat shot

Alright, so the question is:

I have a 1998.5 A4 1.8T Quattro Manual (5spd./standard) and I just found out that my rear driveshat is toast (100% definately)

So, the guy who is swapping it out for a new one has an Automatic 1998 Audi A4 1.8T quattro automatic that he uses as a parts car, and he says he'll be happy to give me the driveshaft if it is the right size...

so, the question is, is the rear driveshaft for an automatic the same as for a manual? (they are both quattro and have the same motor)

thanks in advance, as always any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Don't know the part numbers but when I replaced mine the junkyard had two, both from quattro one manual one automatic. the automatic was completely different (shorter IIRC)

you can only use the driveshaft from a manual (1.8t or 2.8 doesnt matter)

I think I remember reading that one of the years came with a CF driveshaft, that'd be kinda cool to find.

Give a call to PureMS or ECS on monday and see if they can get a better price than the dealer.

yeah, I am going to do anything in my power not to pay dealer cost...

I think Steve may try to use the Driveshaft from the automatic to rebuild my driveshaft...

we'll see what happens...
