01 2.8 Codes
Hey guys my car just threw some codes on my way back from Baltimore to PA. I checked it with a OBDII but some codes do not come up can somone tell me if they are bad or not, I know one is back right O2 sensor.
Here are the codes:
P1129
P0160
P1140
Here are the codes:
P1129
P0160
P1140
They are all related to a bad O2 sensor in bank 2.

Bad o2 sensor or something is not right? And the only part i have on it is a filter and intake. But wouldn't that lean out my engine. And how come for one of them it says resistance and then the other it says too Rich..
Please help is this bad for my engine?

if a resistance is too high very little or no current will flow throught the wire. bank 2 is the driver's side on the 2.8. the 1.8 is a straight align so i don't thik it has banks, correct me if im wrong though. it should be the precat one because it's running rich. when the current reaches the ecm, it determines if the current is in the rich, lean or normal category. just change the sensor or if ur rly low on cash, take it out and spray the crap out of it with wd40. the o2 sensor on the 2.8 is sorta hard to get to, especially on bank 2.
Soooo umm is this bad, Is there anyway i can tell how rich i am running with out a Emang system.
I erased the codes but i know about every ten mintues the 02 sensors "sense" and it came back on. Ahhhhh

I'll give you a little lesson on how O2 sensors work.
O2 sensors before the cat converters will tell the ECM if the engine is running rich or lean yes, but it only tells the ECM that. If you were running rich or lean the ECM will generally give you a system too lean or too rich fault/ fuel trim fault codes. If you get a single O2 sensor fault 99% of the time something is wrong with the O2 sensor. Change that piece of s***!

Oh you have a rich code too? Well then the most common problem with that would either be the MAF sensor or the air filter is dirty. Check both of those, but you're still gonna need a new O2 sensor.
I'm kinda in the same boat. I installed a "CAI" with a K&N filter and the car has ran very rich ever since. Recently I got a couple codes saying the MAF reading exceeded the parameters and theres a bad ground or short (rough translation). You said you installed an intake and filter so the MAF may be reading a higher than normal air volume so the ECU is adding more fuel. Which is not all getting burnt so the 02 sensor, which could be bad or on its way out, is reading high fuel volume. Its most likely the 02 sensor but you can verify that by reading the voltage output on a multimeter while opening a vacuum line which should lean out the system. If the reading stays high then its the sensor, more info. I'd also check out the MAF, it could be dirty.
Thank you for that. Ill clean the MAF ill get some cleaner for it. But the weird thing is i had the Filter/Intake on there for a while i drove down to south carolina from PA once and to Baltimore twice. And it just came on yesterday.
