Default '02 Interior peeling

I read some previous posts about the interior peeling in certain areas of the car and am having the same problem. It was mentioned that you could replace the door handle section with a piece for $35. The rubberized material is also on the button of the automatic shifter and this cigarette lighter. I'm tired of getting this stuff under my fingernails and want to replace it. Where can I order the parts from?

Does anyone know about this? It seems that this would be an easy and cheap swap out.

find people parting out their cars that have been in accidents etc. or check the classifieds.

but parts donors are probly your best bet. sign up to audiworld, audizine, and even vwvortex and start looking around.

I had this same problem and no one really knew how to help so this is what I did. The door handles on all 4 doors of my 97 were peeling everywhere so I went to the dealer and asked how much they were and its about 30-40$ for each handle if you want new ones. I decided this wasn't the greatest idea since my handles were in perfect condition material wise just the paint was peeling and they only had i believe 4 colors to choose from. So then i went to a local auto body store and asked how much it would be to repaint them and he said 200$ which I thought was too much just for painting door handles. Finally I decided I'd do it myself so I took apart the doors and pulled out all 4 handles. I cleaned off all of the remaining paint from them then I spray painted them with grey primer then some red vinyl paint. I baught the primer and paint from a local automotive paint store, they had the paint custom made with the color I chose. One can of each will do just fine if you're only painting handles. Taking the doors apart and putting them back together was the most annoying part but overall it was wayyyyy worth it. I paid 50$ and I now have some custom colored handles which look mint. It was about a full days work for me though, maybe more. I put on a lot of thin coats of both paint and primer to cover everythign evenly and I'm not a mechanic or anything so taking apart the doors was tricky for me.
