03 Audi A4 Avant 3.0L common lifter ware
Hey guys, I'm having a little trouble with timing. I replaced an exhaust lifter on my 3.0l and marked the sprockets and belt but forgot to mark the position of the cams themselves. This repair was done on the passenger side cyl#2 exhaust. I did not use the cam locking tool or crank pin, however I made sure I had cyl#3 TDC by lining up the notch on the crank cover and sticking a long screwdriver down cyl#3 to make sure it was all the way up. Only issue now is, would I need the cam lock to reposition the cams to their place? Both cams have the lobes pointing upward on cyl#3 so I know all valves are closed. I've been looking around for pictures on where the placement of the cams and lobes should be facing (lobes or followers). If anyone has pictures they can provide, or a manual, that would help or even suggestions. All I have to do is line up the cams and match the marked sprockets and tie them down.
