Default 04 A4 Reliability Concerns?

Ok, I'm a new Audi ownerthat bought a 2004 A4 Cabriolet 1.8T with 25K miles on it. I've driven it ~5000 miles and a couple weeks ago the CEL light came on for the transmission speed sensoron the valve body. The dealer is dropping the trans in a couple weeks to replace the entire valve body. The car runs fine, but the CEL light is on. Great, they have to drop the tranny to replace the sensor.
Just got back from going to dinner which required turning on the lights when returning. When I turned on the headlight switch, I get a warning that says "Right Dipped Headlight". Dipped? I have no idea what that means, but the right low beam is out. You got to be kidding!

I'm getting concerned about keeping this car another year when the extended warranty runs out. I sold my BMW 330i with 72K miles without problems. I'm starting to miss by BMW for several reasons. Don't get me started about the CVT transmission. The Audi program manager that decided to put a CVT into this thing should be shot.

Can I expect more surprises from a car that only has 32K miles on it? I'm beginning to wonder
if going Audi was a bad move.

a4cab,

I have a 2003 1.8T Quattro Sedan, and the reliability has been generally good. The only major issues I've had came about 3 weeks ago at the 48,000 mile mark. They had so fix a seal in the power steering system and they had to replace my ECT sensor. That was a little over $500. Also had to replace a faulty fuel pump at about 28,000 miles. Total since 2003: less than $1000. Every car is going to have some issues, but your car is rated better than mine on Consumer Reports as far as quality of systems. Had both this and a 2003 325i at the same time, and the BMW had coil problems where it had to be towed from my driveway a few times. Each car has its quirks, but don't let sensors and a dipped headlight drive you away from Audi.

Hey, there are a few things that will happen to your car that is normal. They all have things that go wrong. Just keep up with maintenance stuff and you will have less headaches overall. Every car goes through this eventually. Mine just did that to me and I ended up replacing a bunch of stuff, turbo, coolant flange, control arms, tie-rod-ends. But mine didn't need anything till about 90K miles.
