1.8T Performance Questions
I currently have a 2000 A4 2.8, and I'm looking at getting some more speed out of it or moving on to something else. I know the only thing you can do to a 2.8 is supercharge it and that the 1.8t has tons of options. I was just curious how much money in mods you will have to put into a stock 1.8 to get it as fast an S4 or a little faster. Also how reliable are the 1.8 engines once they been modded? Can anyone give me some performance specs on a modded 1.8 B6 (0-60, 1/4 mile), with what you had to do to it to acheive that performance level? I've searched the forum and have found a lot of great info, I appreciate any input and I'm sorry if this has already been answered in other posts. I'm currently, debating selling my 2.8 and getting a 1.8t or S4 (possibly just supercharging my 2.8). What do you all think would be the most cost effective solution and give me the most reliable car? Thanks again for the help.
So it sounds like I'm looking at about $5000 to make a 1.8t pretty fast. Any of you know what I should be able to get for a 2000 A4 2.8 fully loaded with 90000 miles on it. It also has a brand new timing belt. If figure if I can get about 12-13k for I may be able to buy a newer 1.8t with low miles and put some money into. Another option would be to try and get a 2000-2002 S4 with around 60000 miles on it. Last option would be to just put the PES G2 in my 2.8 and call it a day. Does anyone know where I can get the G2 for under 4000. If I could put one in for 4000 including install it would be worth it. I know about the group buy over at scaudi, but I don't think that its going on anymore. What would you guys do, my goal is to avoid going more than $8000 in debt if I purchase a new vehicle, otherwise I can't really justify putting much more than $4000 in the 2.8 I have now. Thanks for your suggestions.
if you had 5 g's you could drop a BT in an a4. and that would rape stock s4's.

don't supercharge the 2.8. it's still not enough power and it's rediculously expensive. my buddy had a G2 on his 2.8 and got sick of not having enough power(a chipped GTI killed him, and stock B5 S4's kept up with ease) and sold it to go with a single turbo setup
