my remote stopped working after i replaced the battery, i tried one of the walkthroughs on this sight and didnt work, maybe that was for 97 and on with different keys, if anyone knows it works for a 96 or knows another that does please help

 

you need to have spare key to do it on 96 a4, the process is with one key turn the igntion into the on position, and with other key on driver side door turn key to lock position and hold it there and then press and hold both lock and unlock buttons at same time while holding the key in lock position and when the doors unlock the remote is programmed. at least thats how i remember it being done, i dunno mine stopped working long time ago, i need new key fob
