I have a 1997 A4 1.8t quattro! Motor is blown and I purchased a 2001 but the back of the block is not the same! Motor come from an 01 VW.... I changed out the intake manifold and exhaust but then looked to find the oil cooler in the worong spot and could not hook up the engine mount to the back of the block! Need some help please let me know if anyone can help me out! I can still give the engine back and go get something else....

 

They are totally incompatible and have different engine management. The 01 should have electric throttle control whereas the your car has standard throttle wire.

 

electric throttle control and standard throttle could be fixed, we changed one on toyota, but you needs all the wires from with this motor and a gas padal, and would say you need replace lots of other parts for this swap.

just try to get different engine.

 

yea many sorry to say but you need a different motor.. 01 wont work with your engine managment, everything is different.. more somg crap. the aeb is suck a better motor as well

 

I think the VW engine was transversly and the Audi
is longitudinally mounted.

 

it depends what VW.. the passat is the same platform as the a4 (just extended 6 inches)
