Default 2.8 Alternator DIY

My alt. is on the way out so I decided to stop by the stealership for a price quote. The guy said $450, I laughed and walked out. Anyways I'm gonna do it myself but can't find a DIY for the 2.8. Saw one for the TT but like the 1.8T its mounted differently. The issue is I don't wanna take off the front end to get to it. But it looks like thats the only option. Oh and does this look legit?

Get a used one cheap and have your local auto electronics place rebuild it. I went through 2 aftermarket "rebuilt" alts before I got a used one rebuilt on my SHO. Needless to say the local rebuild is still working today AFAIK.

I dont believe there are any DIYs for it. I did it on my '96 V6 and had to remove the bumper or at least slide it back. If you got ne questions i might be able to help you... I shoulda taken pics and done a DIY. Maybe when i replace my clutch...
