Anyone else encountered a large oil leak on a '98-99 2.8 30V coming from the cam adjuster seal? Dealer wants $1200 to fix it, which I don't have. Car's driveable, but I'm wondering if it's something that is easy to replace and just time consuming or if it's something I just shouldn't touch. Anyone else dealt with tt before?

Thanks.

RE: 2.8 cam shaft adjuster seal leak?
how many miles are on your car.. i have the avant wagon... not the same problem though. just tryin to shoot you some tips... i have a oil leak from my lower oil pan. it sucks.. always putting oil in like every week. thats about to change this week though. i was asking how many miles cause maybe you could just get the timing belt job done like i am.. i ordered the ultimate plus timing kit from ecstuning.com and it comes with a bunch of stuff besides the timing belt.....- water pump and gasket, oil pump gasket, cam seals and a bunch of other things right in that area.. for 450 bucks its a decent value.. i suggest that if your almost due for that job
good luck

leaks only get worse, fix that shizz

126k miles. Looking at what it'll take to replace that seal I think I might as well just have the timing belt done at the same time, since it has to be taken apart anyway. Sucks cuz I just broke the tie rod mount on the left front and now I don't have enough money to fix the leak! ah well...the car'll settle down after a few months here...right?
