2.8 clicking from the engine
I have a '96 A4 2.8 30v with 70k miles
today i noticed that when im driving and my engine is still somewhat cool, i hear a metal on metal clicking noise once any load is put on the engine. (sounds like a valve would click if it hasnt been driven for several weeks) if i allow it to warm up for like 10min at idle, i dont have any problems. i checked oil and coolant and its all good. any ideas on the problem?

RE: 2.8 clicking from the engine
oil treatment is what you need to remove all that glaze from the hydraulic lifters "quite common when using cheap oil" or not changing it at regular intervals, also could be because you left it standing too long without staring the engine if so a good run should sort it

its called lifter tick...like everyone else, its the oil. when i get up toward 3-4k miles on my oil my car starts ticking pretty loud, then i change the oil and its gone.. makes me happy, and smile like this....

yea the oil has been changed about 400miles ago and it had changes at regular intervals the noise comes back when it is allowed to cool all the way off (left overnight and starting in the morning) (starting after school) i will look into an oil treatment thanks
