2.8 oil leak
Any help here would be appreciated. Serious oil leak which the dealer can't locate. Changed cam tensioner and valve cover gaskets, $800. Resealed a plug in the oil galley on the front of the motor, still leaks like crazy. Something they're overlooking? Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I assume that you're talking about the can tensioner area. The dealer replaced the gaskets on both banks. I'm wondering if there's an o-ring or something that leaks once the motor oil is up to temp. Didn't know if there was something common that would cause such a substantial leak. I would investigate myself, but I moved and don't have a garage right now to work in. Thanks again.
I have a leak, a drop or 2 a night, and it's coming off of the passenger side of the oil pan. I noticed that above the pan didn't have any fresh oil so I tried tightening up the pan after I pressure washed the oil off. All the bolts turned a little and the leak stopped for about a week and then came back. I'm sure mine is just the sealant around the pan, well there isn't any on it, looks like they put the pan on without any sealant. Might want to look there.
I can't believe that the dealer, with a lift, dye in the oil can't find where it's coming from. They said the upper pan was leaking a little, but not the amount that I'm seeing. Does the oil flow to the cooler at all oil temps or just once the oil is warm?
