If you are not turbo smart and know just about everything or working with someone that does, leave the car alone and get a 1.8t

there's a reason why no one produces a turbo for the 2.8. you can't run much boost due to the higher compression ratio (believe its only around 8psi w/out intercooling) so it would be pretty expensive to see some worthwhile results. why not just spend less money and supercharge it for similar results?

but if your deadset on having a turbo try PM'ing kakarot (although i dont even know if he still comes on the forums) last i heard he was talking about slapping a turbo on his 2.8

7-8psi is the max for just about all cars non-ic if not turboed in general. But you can make big power with little amounts of boost. You just need a turbo that works best in that range unlike a 1.8t that needs a turbo that can run 30psi with ease.

Kakarot is an idiot. He thinks that since he is an engineer that he knows what he is talking about. Dont make me dig up the thread.

I remember a while back (maybe 6 months)...there was a guy selling a homebrew turbo kit for a 2.8 on eBay....he said that it was this great thing and that all you'd have to do would be to install it and take it to a Dyno and have it tuned....I would assume that he spent the better part of 100hrs to piece this set up together and weld a custom turbo header and all that....I would also assume that he took his custom kit off because it was not satisfying him...or maybe he blew his motor...I don't know though....

if you can weld and have an extra car, I would say build your 2.8 from the ground up...then put a couple t3/04's on it...you may have to cut some holes in your hood, there isn't much room in the engine bay, and you'd prolly need a new tranny....

If I had a 2.8 and I wanted it to be fast, I would save my pennies for the new pes s/c that i hear will be out shortly, or the cheap and easy alternative would be a 50-75 shot of nitrous for simlar effects...

well, good luck!

I would go nitrous over thousands and thousands on a turbo system than may not even work. You can do 50-75 wet shot easy.

extend your front wheel stance by a foot on each side, beat out your wheel wells and then there should be just enough room to fit the turbos under the hood. if your so set on going custom why not a custom s/c setup

Forget the turbo. Maybe you should go to youtube, watch some supercharged vids of some a4s. I think that would convince you, they sound pretty sick in my opinion.
