2.8L A4 Problems
I have a 1997 2.8L audi A4 standard with about 115 000 kms not miles on it. Im having issues when i change gears it kinda jolts when reving between 2800 and 3700. Its almost as if u feel the power then it goes limp then there is another jolt........... as soon as u stop accelerating and are just keeping up speed its fine tho. I have no idea where to look for the problem and i was wondering if anyone has come accross this problem or would know what the hell to look for. its been regularily services and the oil is changed every 5000 km i dont know wether it would be a loose sensor or somthing? If u can help me that would be awsome
yeah your throttle body is probly cracked or the bearing is somewhat bad. I just replaced mine and it was doing somewhat of the same thing, when it broke the RPMs just shot up and kept hitting the rev limiter and wouldnt let off at all. I would say get that checked out or the timming belt maybe off track a bit. Dont let that break, your engine will be basically gone.
I just bought a 96 A4 Q 2.8 for $6K and dropped $1,000 to have the belt replaced and the water pump - just preventative maintenance. Car had 115K on it and I want this puppy to last.
That belt brakes the car is junk - motor repairs are more than the car is worth.

96 a4 standard.... After i read your post, I sorta realized it on my car as well...
I remember just thinking that's how the car catches...
can you try to describe the severity of the "jolting" and "jerking" ???
mine isn't that bad... more like a very subtle oscillation...
Is it a possibility that the clutch is almost worn?
110k miles and never changed clutch....
good: previous owner didn't *** with the tranny much
bad : I'll probably have to get a new one soon....
