I got an el cheapo intake from ebay. It's not going to do anything but make it growl a little.

What kind of heat sheat? For the intake?

Take a piece of aluminum or whatever you want to use, measure, roll and bolt it in a circle. Take a metal strip and bolt it to the frame. It'd be a waste of time and money.

 

I would fit a Supersprint with matching header then a BMC/CDA induction kit (Made of carbon) this should see about 20-40bhp gains, as my friend as the same setup on his 2.8 Passat and saw 235 bhp on a dyno.

 

if you're tryin to get power out of the 2.8 you're wasting your money. If it's power you want sell the 2.8 and buy a different car. The 2.8 isn't made for power, it's made for luxury and looks, handling, gas mileage, and all-wheel-drive-go-everywhere-in-the-snow-ness.

The best return on investment that you'll get is from suspension work and getting the power to the wheels, since the engine can't really be opened up. But drop it, put some koni coilovers on, some sway bars, these tires: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ce+T%2FA+KDW+2 and all that great jazz.... maybe polish up the intake maifold and throttle body yourslef, and you've got a sick handling car that pulls smoothly and your speed wont come from trying to pretend your a drag racer in a Nova, you'll be able to carry 2-3 times the speed through corners, and be doing it at 20mpg and in pimp style status
