2001 Audi A4
So i am looking to get a 2001 A4 and i found a pretty nice one and i was just wondering if i can get some input on what to look for and things like that as i have never owned an audi. The one i am looking at has roughly 140k Kilometers (85K miles), i believe the sport and winter package (Xenon, heated seats, sunroof) black exterior on beige leather interior. it runs really nice and i was very impressed with the stock power (1.8T). It has allthe features i want (except interior color, would prefer black but the beige is actually very nice).
They are asking 14.5K CAN for it, in Canada Audi's are a little more expensive then in the states which is unfortunate for myself. Before i buy it i will take it to an audi dealer for an inspection so i assume that will let show if it is in as good of shape as it appears. is this a good deal over all? of course i will try to lower the price if i can.
One question however, upon driving it i noticed the clutch was quite long (meaning it needed considerable travel to engage/disengage) and the throttle pedal itself was unresponsive ( a quick tap would not raise revs, needed a little more then i was used to). are these issues common with audi's?
Anyways i have read all the noob postings and the stickies so i have a fairly good idea of what i am getting myself into. As for my mods i will only chip it and maybe an exhaust but thats it, nothing crazy.
Another question, do i need to run premium in it? or will 87 octane do? i know that if i am to chip it it will need 91 anyways.
Thanks!

So what do you guys think of the price? it is in fairly good cosmetic condition (won't comment on mechanical fitness until i get it inspected). There are some fairly major scuffs and marks on the driver side window and door lock panel which may be able to get touched up.
93 octane? i don't even know if i have seen 93 octane where i live (canada).
Any other advice is appreciated as i am new to the Audi world

You can run 91 ok with chip, 93 is better.
IDK, price seems way to high for mileage/age, even if you're in iceland that price seems way high.
Make sure timing belt has been done, and suspension/steering is tight. make sure all electronics work properly.

I'd add on here that you want to specifically check the control arms, as they're known to require replacement (which is likely what acetrebo was talking about), and it seems that a lot of us (myself currently included) are dealing with wheel bearing issues too. My car also suffers from an intermittent cruise control "don't wanna work" issue (also fairly common - repair/replace the stalk). Other than that stuff and timing belt servicing, it doesn't seem like all that much goes wrong with these cars. I do have a 30V though - the 1.8T guys can fill in more blanks here than I can.
im not sure on the exchange rates, but is canadian money worth less then the US dollar? or is the other way around? I would keep looking, but then again I don't know how common A4's are in Canada.....
The rates are actually very close. Check out www.xe.com - there's a currency changer there that is up to the day I believe. You can see it there. I was on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls last month and the rates were very similar. I also don't know about how common the A4 is up there, and that can affect it I'm sure.
