I recently looked into an Audi A4, the one I found was price at $3950 with 95k miles. The problem is: It failed inspection. The dealership said it was the brakes, as well as the tires need to be replaced. For this price do you think it's still worth buying? Also, how much do you think it would cost to fix these problems?

 

I don't think a car can fail inspection because of tires and brakes. (could be wrong) but I would get that car scanned for codes. Does it have a check engine light on?

And a 2001 w/95k for 4k is a great deal. Make sure the title is clear and what not.

 

quite a few states have visual inspections to go along with emissions. and some states like in Virginia (atleast the northern area) and California they crawl all up in and under the car, checking everything.

if brakes and tires were the only reason it didn't pass inspection see if they'll take off 500-800 off the price of the car to compensate for a new set of brakes and tires. lots of deals going on right now at shops trying to drum up business. Could probably get a sweet deal getting it all done at one place.
