Default 2005 A4 1.8T Car Remote Keys stopped working within a month of each other

I bought a used 2005 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro back in April 2010 from a dealership. When I bought the car, they had to give me a brand new remote key because the car didn't come with a spare, and it worked fine. Last month, the new car key remote stopped working (couldn't lock or unlock my doors remotely). I got a replacement battery for the keys, but it still wouldn't work.

The Audi Dealership is 45 minutes from where I live, so I started using the original car keys until I'd have a free day to drive over and get them looked at. Today, my other pair of keys stopped working also (wont lock or unlock my doors) and now I'm almost positive it can't be the battery that's the issue. It can't be that a brand new pair of keys from April 2010 had a battery that already died, and then the other pair's battery dies a month later.

Anyone know why both my keys aren't working anymore, and how can I fix this?

Thanks

Anyone?

I have an appointment set up at my local Audi Dealer for Feb 5 but they wanna charge me $110 just to look at the keys.

It's really weird though, how can they both stop working within a month of each other?

For the most part I would suspect a battery issue but since you have seemed to rule that out it is probably something with the receiver in the car. Try to re-sync the keys to the car. I don't recall the "exact official procedure" but essentially use the key to lock and unlock the car then press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote with the key still in the door.
